At the start of June, Red Bull reached out to ask if I could shoot the Denver stop of their worldwide breakdancing competition, the Red Bull BC One. Going for 12 years now, the BC One takes place in notable cities around the globe, with the world finals happening in Rome later this year.

Before the competition started I had a chance to shoot some of the b-boy’s backstage as they were warming up, along with a few portraits. Once the competition got moving it was incredible to see these guys come out of their shells, some of whom were pretty quiet otherwise. The amount of bravado and posturing in the face of their opponents between dancing kept things fun throughout the night too. All in all it was awesome to shoot the level of talent on display at the Red Bull BC One!
