Behind The Scenes Of The Boa Technology Footwear Campaign Photo Shoot
April 14, 2014
This past January I headed out to San Diego for a week long photoshoot with Boa Technology and Image Brew.
Our mission was to shoot for Boa’s Korean footwear partners for an upcoming campaign running in South Korea this spring.
With a long list of photo and video assets needing to be shot in 3 days, it was an ambitious undertaking with the need for everything to go perfectly. With unseasonably warm 80 degree temps and clear weather in San Diego, it was a welcome spot to escape to during one of Denver’s classic snow storms.
After spending our first day location scouting, meeting with talent, organizing wardrobe, and finding backup locations, we set out in our van full of gear the following morning to start shooting.
Our goal for the brands we were shooting was to show the capabilities of the footwear, from being able to run on the beach to hiking in the mountains and everything in between.
We headed to La Jolla Cove, where we shot all day until sunset producing a few different ad’s as well as the brand video at the top of this post.
For our second day in San Diego we headed to the hills to shoot some hiking and running content, racing down back down to the beach just before sunset to get our last shots of the day.
On our final day of shooting we headed to Palm Canyon, a not-so-hidden gem covered by a canopy of palms, perfect for our walking and trail running photos. We had the place to ourselves too which was an added bonus!
If you happen to be in South Korea this spring, keep an eye out for these ad’s in Men’s Health among other publications. Thanks to Claire Sprague for the behind the scenes photos. Videos made by Image Brew.
The obligatory selfie in Palm Canyon after a really fun, long, sandy, dirty, beachy, successful three days of shooting around San Diego with my friends from Boa Technology and Image Brew!
